About Tucky

Tucky is a macOS notes app that lives as a thin stripe along the edge of the screen: the notes stay out of the way until you reach over, at which point their titles fan out and any one of them opens for editing. Notes are stored as local-only files, encrypted on disk, so nothing has to leave the Mac to be usable. An AI layer is built into the app rather than a separate window — hold Option-Space to talk to your notes by voice from any application, or press Option-J to ask about the note in front of you, with the note's body only sent when you explicitly allow a read. Multiple frontier models are bundled in the app, so writing, editing and cross-note questions work without configuring API keys. Connectors for Gmail, Google Calendar, Docs, Sheets, GitHub and Notion let the agent pull in context from the tools you already use, and the notes themselves support checkbox tasks, live Markdown, global shortcuts and clean exports.

Key Features

Edge-Docked Notes: Notes rest as a thin stripe at the screen edge and fan out into readable titles when you reach over, so they never occupy a window until you want them.
Voice Agent from Any App: Holding Option-Space brings a bar to whatever application is in front and lets you talk to your notes, with dictation in over 60 languages.
Ask About This Note: Option-J asks a question about the open note; the title travels with the question and the body is only read after you grant permission.
Bundled Frontier Models: The reasoning models needed for writing, editing and cross-note search ship inside the app, so there are no API keys to configure.
Local Encrypted Storage: Notes are local-only files encrypted on disk and stay on the Mac, with the app clearly scoped to a single machine.
App Connectors: Gmail, Google Calendar, Docs, Sheets, GitHub and Notion can be linked so the agent answers using your calendar and mail alongside your notes.
Note Essentials: Checkbox tasks, live Markdown rendering, global shortcuts, clean exports and self-updating builds in a roughly 15 MB app.

Use Cases

Capturing Notes Mid-Task: Jotting a thought without leaving the current app because the notes are already docked at the screen edge.
Hands-Free Dictation: Speaking a note or a question while working in another application, using the global voice shortcut in any of 60+ languages.
Asking Across Your Notes: Searching and reasoning over an accumulated set of notes without moving them into a cloud service.
Privacy-Sensitive Note Keeping: Keeping journals, client details or personal records in an encrypted local-only file rather than a synced service.
Meeting Prep with Context: Pulling calendar entries and mail through the connectors so the agent can draft or summarize against real appointments.
Lightweight Task Tracking: Using checkbox tasks and live Markdown for daily to-dos in the same place the notes already live.
