Mutter is a macOS dictation app that converts spoken, half-formed thoughts into finished, cleaned-up text directly at your cursor in any app. Beyond plain transcription it offers an Intent (Compose) mode that detects what you are creating — an email, a Slack message, a bug report, an AI prompt, or a task list — and drafts the finished version for review. It claims roughly 3x the speed of typing and emphasizes privacy: a fully on-device Private mode runs an open-source model on Apple Silicon so audio never leaves the Mac, while a Cloud tier offers Whisper-class transcription on any Mac including Intel.
