About screenpipe

Screenpipe records everything you see, say and hear on your computer and keeps it on your own machine, turning your working history into searchable context for AI agents. It captures the full accessibility tree with OCR as a fallback, plus audio transcription with speaker labels, keyboard input and app switches, writing all of it to a local SQLite database rather than a vendor cloud. On top of that store you get natural-language AI search, automatic meeting notes, and a local REST API and MCP server, so agents such as Claude, Codex, Hermes or Runner can ask what you saw five minutes ago, summarize today's conversations, or trigger a pipe whenever you work on a given task. Because the data layer is local, portable and source-available, your memory is not tied to any single model provider, and privacy controls include window, app and password filters, a proprietary PII model, optional encryption at rest, and fully offline operation. It runs as a desktop app on macOS, Windows and Linux (or via npx screenpipe record), typically using 5-10% CPU, 0.5-3GB RAM and roughly 20GB of storage per month with configurable retention.
