Backgrind is a desktop app for macOS and Windows that puts your AI coding agent — Claude Code, Cursor, or its own hosted model — in an always-on-top window that floats over your editor, browser, or a fullscreen game. It is a thin frontend over the CLI you already use, relying on your existing login and history rather than introducing a new account to trust. You fire off a task and go do something else; the window flashes and chimes only when the agent actually needs you, for example to approve running a command or installing a dependency. The floating window can be dragged, resized, recolored and faded, and surfaces the agent's plan, file edits, test runs and approval prompts inline so you can supervise multiple agents without context-switching.
