About Octop
Octop is an MIT-licensed, self-hosted AI assistant platform from Tencent Cloud for households, small teams and individuals. A single Python process serves a web dashboard, CLI, cron automation and IM channels including Feishu, DingTalk, QQ, WeChat, WeCom, Telegram and Discord, with all data kept locally under ~/.octop. Each user gets a personal team of specialized 'experts' with their own workspaces, providers and MBTI-style personas, and the AgentTeams beta lets a coordinator orchestrate several experts on multi-step work. It extends via OAuth and MCP connectors, plugins, a RAG knowledge base and ACP integration that delegates coding tasks to OpenCode or Claude Code. Built-in security includes JWT multi-user isolation, tool approval, shell guardrails and PII redaction.
