A Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex design skill that generates UI that refuses to look AI-generated via 57 slop-test gates.
Hallmark is an open-source design skill for Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex that generates UI which refuses to look AI-generated. Given a brief, it picks a macrostructure, dresses it in one of twenty themes, runs fifty-seven 'slop test' gates plus a pre-emit self-critique, and explicitly refuses the on-distribution defaults every LLM was trained into — so two pages built for two different briefs feel like different sites rather than color swaps of the same template. The skill exposes four verbs: default (build new UI), audit (score existing code against anti-patterns), redesign (keep copy/IA/brand but rebuild with a different fingerprint), and study (extract macrostructure, type pairing, and color anchor from a design you admire without cloning it). A new Custom mode designs from scratch — bespoke palette, type, and layout — when no catalog theme fits the brief. Output is self-contained HTML + CSS stamped with its macrostructure in a CSS comment. Live examples are hosted at usehallmark.com.
Hallmark is an innovative design skill that utilizes Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex technologies to generate user interfaces that appear authentically human-made. It employs 57 rigorous slop-test gates to ensure high-quality, visually appealing results that resist the typical characteristics of AI-generated designs.
Hallmark leverages cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies to produce user interfaces that are indistinguishable from those crafted by human designers. Here’s a deeper look into its components:
Claude Code: This is a machine learning model that generates text and design suggestions. It helps create the structure and content of the UI, ensuring it aligns with user expectations and needs.
Cursor: A tool that assists in refining user interface elements. It enables designers to manipulate and improve UI components dynamically, contributing to the overall aesthetic and functionality.
Codex: Known for its coding capabilities, Codex translates design concepts into functional code. This ensures that the generated UI is not only visually appealing but also operationally sound.
The 57 slop-test gates are a critical feature of Hallmark. They serve as quality checkpoints that the design must pass before being finalized. Each gate assesses various aspects like visual coherence, usability, and adherence to design principles, ensuring that the output meets high standards.
Hallmark works by utilizing a combination of curated themes, a rules engine, and customizable design options to create unique landing pages. It generates self-contained HTML and CSS outputs, allowing designers and founders to produce visually distinct websites while avoiding AI-generated design pitfalls.
Hallmark's innovative approach to website design integrates several key components:
Twenty Curated Themes: These themes provide a foundation for various design briefs, ensuring that sites created with Hallmark have distinct visual identities. Each theme comes with its unique macrostructure and design fingerprints, allowing for a wide range of customization.
Fifty-Seven Slop-Test Gates: This rules engine plays a crucial role in maintaining design integrity. By filtering out generic AI defaults, Hallmark utilizes a pre-emit self-critique process that enhances originality. This mechanism highlights design inconsistencies that may make a site look AI-generated, thus improving the overall quality of the output.
Four Core Verbs:
Custom Mode: When specific design needs arise that don’t fit into the predefined themes, Hallmark’s Custom Mode allows designers to create from scratch. This mode provides a bespoke palette, typography, and layout, while still ensuring compliance with the fifty-seven gates.
Self-Contained HTML + CSS Output: Each generated page is a standalone HTML/CSS file. This feature simplifies the hand-off process, as the macrostructure is clearly commented within the CSS, making it easy for developers to integrate into their systems.
Hallmark features twenty curated themes, fifty-seven slop-test gates, four primary verbs for design tasks, a custom mode for unique briefs, and self-contained HTML + CSS output. These elements enable robust, visually distinct website creation while ensuring quality and customization.
Hallmark stands out in web design by offering a structured yet flexible approach to creating websites.
